The Ministry of Education in Taiwan is running its 2026 Drone Soccer Competition, which the ministry describes as its first nationwide drone soccer competition. The finals are scheduled for 25 December 2026 at the Tainan Convention Center in Guiren District, Tainan City. News reports place the finals within the Presidential Cup 2026 Drone Competition, announced by the Presidential Office. The Presidential Cup is organised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the National Science and Technology Council, and the Ministry of Education handles the drone soccer events. The competition has three categories: an elementary and junior high school group, a senior high school group, and a university and college group. Regional qualifiers were planned for the northern, central and southern regions of Taiwan, followed by semifinals in Taipei. In the finals, the top two teams from the semifinals compete for the championship and runner-up positions. The rules are based on the FAI World Drone Soccer Championships Sporting Rules, with some local adjustments. On the day of the finals, an international demonstration match in the 40 cm class, played five against five, is planned. According to Newtalk, the final venue will also have a drone soccer experience area for the public. The implementation plan notes that detailed schedules and venues will be announced in separate competition guidelines.
